We bought a new starter after being told that was our problem, but it still does the exact same thing. Not the battery, either (I assume) since we bought a new battery 2 months ago and just had the alternator repaired. When trying to start the vehicle it only makes a "click" noise then nothing. Our check engine light was on before this happened, but before we got the money to get it diagnosed it went out on us. PLEASE give any help you can, it's my only way to get my son back and forth to preschool & our second baby is due in FIVE WEEKS. :( Bad timing for car problems, to say the least. Thanks fo much in advance for any advice!

The mechanic who replaqced your starter or the mechanic who replaced your alternator has missed something and failed in his attempt to repair your electrical system that provides sufficient voltage to turnn the engine. The only thing left is the battery caqbles, terminals, or maybe your engine is failing. I think he failed to test or find excessive resistance in the starting system. You know it. I know it. Now tell him about it. It is a job that has been started but not finished. Let him know that a mechanic who is a doctorate in electrical systems has advised you that your starting system repairs were incomplete, and to please finish this simple job. I wish I knew who you were and where you lived because if close I would be there tomorrow. I don't like hearing about these simple system repair failure. Tell him to recheck his work, the battery and especially the battery cables and sterter wiring. Possibly it will all be for no charge. Good luck. Show em you mean buisness. Ok

Joe,

Thanks so much for your reply! Actually, we did not take it to a mechanic because it cut off on us very close to home, so we had it towed here. Being absolutely broke right now, we don't have a way to get it to a shop. We took the advice of an auto "tinkerer" who said it was the starter. We had the battery professionally replaced and the alternator was fixed, but we installed it ourselves. All worked fine, and then suddenly - two months later - it stops altogether. I tried a new starter relay today and that didn't work either. With no money to take it anywhere and no idea what's wrong, we're totally stuck with a broken down Jeep in our driveway. I'm totally in tears over this, I have no idea what to do. Thank you again for your reply, maybe we can try some new battery cables or something. Tried jumping it off with another car, but that did no good, either. , (
