Electrical problem
1992 Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 200K miles

Went out to start my Jeep this morning (very cold. Maybe 0-5 degrees). Turned the key, and nothing happened. I can hear the fuel pump run, but did not hear the starter engage. Engine does not crank. Lights, radio, heater, ect. All work. The starter has been replaced within the last month. Any ideas?

***** UPDATE **** Just went out (little warmer now maybe 20 degrees) and the Jeep started. Has done this on very cold mornings before. What could cause this? Don't know how old the battery is. Could it be discharging enough when it's this cold, then "coming back to life " when it gets warmer?

The battery could be getting weak. Most part stores will test them free of charge, and also install them. Or the battery may not have the proper amount of cold cranking amps for this vehicle.
