Electrical problem
1991 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Ok this is the craziest thing I have ever dealt with, and I am truely hoping that you can give me some help on this. I went to pick up my daughter the other night, and went over a set of train tracks ( I didn't think very fast) and the bump wasn't that hard. Once I got over the tracks my dash lights went out. And once I got home I found that my tail lights/ brake lights had went out as well. I got under the dash and checked the fuses, and sure enough it was blown. So I replaced it, and switched on the lights, to check them out. And the fuse instantly blew again. I went through the entire electrical system from the tail lights to the fuse box, and didn't find anything out of the norm. Now Im stumped and don't know were to look or what to do. I really need to get it back on the road, cause it's my only ride. So what do you think, can you give me any advice?

Do you think that it could be a bad switch? That's the only thing I haven't pulled off and checked. Because I would have to pull the whole dash out.

That is one of the possibilites, check the dimmer switch because they are sometimes connected with or grounded with other electrical items, you may get a clue from there, and it easy enough pull the speedometer out and see if you can get somethng it could just be something that fell of like a ground

Thanks for your advice, you actually put me in the right direction to find the prob. I had been looking in the wrong place the whole time. I was checking on the driver side, and it ended up being a short (a relay had raddled down on an exposed screw) on the passenger side. I pulled all the wires on that side out, and taped them all up really well, and that fixed the problem. Thanks again for the help, and I wish you all the best _
