See my profile. Imma CJ guy, I do not know your RIG.

I am ASSUMING (BAD THING TO DO) that it does "FIRE UP" but then dies, when the key is released?

On a CJ, that would mean "I" terminal on the solenoid, is supplyiing Tempory FULL 12 Volts to the COIL, while "cranking"SUPPOSED TO!

When the key is released, the coil relies on Reduced Voltage from the "ON or RUN" position of the key (REAL SWITCH IT OPERATES). This keeps it running!

So I am gonna tell you some places to look. GENERICALLY, since I do not know your rig.

FusesALL LOCATIONS (owners manual) look for stuff saying ignition. May not be blown, just loose or a little corroded (pull 'em in and out several times to clean the "FORKS"

Connections to coil---do same for corroded connections.

Broken wires----follow as best you can--coil wires

If you MUST! MUST! Drive it---only temporary.

With a Alligator Clip type jumper. Jump POS Battery to POS COIL. Then crank it up (this bypasses the ignition switch)

This Jumper WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED. To "KILL" your vehicle. Only do this if you have to!

Respond with good news!
