Hi my dad has left me his 1980 xjs v12, im not sure if its going as im getting the keys soon. Anyway. Ive known that changing the donk from a v12 to a chevy 350 could be better ~
Would you agree or is there nothing wrong with keeping the v12?
what are the pros an cons.

Hi there,

There is an old dictum in the motor trade, "If it isn't broken, don't touch it" The V12 motor is a superbe piece of engineering, Yes it leaks oil, but that part of the charm of owing a British motor. In all reality if it is working well, why go to all that stress and cost to do a conversion, may be if the motor is in need of attention, then look at a conversion, as the V12 will be expensive to fix if something fails. I have seen a few XJ6 motors slotted into the 12's and they go alright. Have a good think about what you want and how much money you want to spend, as any conversion will not be cheap.
