Jaguar 2000 XK8 convertible top problems

The hydraulic fluid has blown out twice causing replacement of pump and hoses. Most recently last week.
The top still does not come up smoothly and stalls several times on the way up. Three dealerships have not been able to slove the problem.

Sounds like something is getting in the way causing the pump to over pressure the system.Has the car ever been in an accident? Have you tried unhooking the hydraulic ram to see if the top moves freely on its own?
