1998 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2L DOHC 24V, 101,000K, auto, My engine heats up quickly and occasionally seems to run hot according to dash gauge; since I bought it used, I want to replace the thermostat. However, the Hanes manual does not provide info for the thermostat on this engine. First problem, I have looked in all the usual places, but I can't find it - it's not located in the front housing where the upper rad hose connects. I sense that it may be under the intake manifold (plenum) on the rear side of the engine - can anyone confirm the location of the thermostat on this engine. Any words of wisdom for replacing it?

Remove plenum as whole unit it's underhold down by 3 - 12mm bolts. Here is a guide to show you step by step with a diagrams below to help you with your car.

My sons Rodeo w/3.2L, d.O.H.C. V-6 has what looks like the thermostat housing under the intake plenum. However, it's attatched to the lower radiator hose. Is this the correct location and what is the best way to replace the thermostat. Haynes manual isn't even close to resembling the housing.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, hockeygman

Figured it out. Intake plenum HAS to come off. Lots of hoses to disconnect, unplug injectors and several sensors. Not a very hard job, but tedious. This is 1st year this engine was installed, plenum gaskets were a little hard to find and pricey. Next time should only take about 2 hours.
