Vehicle will sporadically not start with a drained battery, starts right up on a jump box. Check engine light will come on with code p0562. It reads system low voltage and will randomly not shift into 3rd or 4th gear. I never had any other transmission problems, after turning the vehicle off and then back on it will shift for a few minutes then decide not to anymore. Got the battery tested and the alternator and both tested fine. I don't know where else to turn from here. We also replaced the PCM relay, but that didn't help either.

Hi,

As you mentioned, it is a low-voltage issue with the transmission control outputs. With the engine running, the PCM commands the TIPM (totally integrated power module) to energize the Transmission Control Output. Power to the PCM is less than 10.0 volts for a period of 15 seconds. Note: P0562 generally indicates a gradually falling battery voltage or a resistive connection(s) to the PCM.

In most cases, the issue is the result of either the TIPM or a connector issue in the wiring. The TIPM in the vehicle is known to fail as far as connectors. Simply put, there are too many connector pins in the connector. As a result, they are very small and are prone to corrode and break causing this type of issue.

I attached the diagnostics below specific to the code. Do me a favor. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
