I have to pull over turn of key then restart, sometimes works sometimes doesn't. I have replaced the EGR, PCV, and fuel filter relays. I can't narrow down the problem and so specific variable coincided to problem but, noticed if I run premium problem is less likely. I'm ringing inertia switch or maybe fuel pump, but why is it stealing vehicle? Upon first start up car can run great but as stated intermittent issue. With hard idle.

Hi,

I have a couple of questions. First, does the vehicle start right back up, or do you need to wait for it to cool? If that is the case, you may have a failing crankshaft position sensor. Take a look through this link and let me know if it mirrors what you experience:

Also, we need to check for diagnostic trouble codes. This vehicle has an OBD1 system that doesn't require a scan tool for code retrieval. All that is needed is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip. Follow the directions in this link and let me know the results:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/buick-cadillac-chevy-gmc-oldsmobile-pontiac-gm-1983-1995-obd1-code-definitions-and-retrieval-method

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Replaced crankshaft position sensor, sorry left it out earlier, codes after paper clip which I've done before and after replacing items, 2, 23, 42, 11, 25, 55, and 96. It's intermittent when it'll start up again, even if I swap the hot relay doesn't always guarantee she starts in a period of time of course but no set variable to get it restarted after problem occurs. Also, just so you're aware this car since I got it has a problem between shifting gears so as long as you flow it for the most part it'll go through it, so I am unaware of those problems and not too worried. I don't think they'd be causing the car to stall, but please let me know. Thanks for your help!

Hi,

The codes can be both transmission-related and engine-related. Can you redescribe what the shifting issues are, so I know better which direction to go?

Also, I need to know the 8th digit of the VIN number. There are two very different schematics I saw. It should either be a 7 or a 9.

Also, code 11 indicates that a transmission code has been set. The powertrain control module, used on vehicles equipped with automatic transaxles, contains an engine control module (EC) and a transaxle control module (TC). These control modules communicate internally over a serial peripheral interface (SPI) bus.

Also, my diagnostic codes in the manual begin with 11. Are you sure about the 2?

Let me know.

Joe
