This code pops up instantly upon cranking engine. I've replaced the CKP with three different ones, tested them all, have continuity and correct voltages. Spark is just intermittent. Very hard starting but runs as great as it can in limp mode due to code. I'm getting ready to replace PCM. Any suggestions please? Also, this happened after an engine swap. Is there two different reluctor wheels? They look identical. Reason I ask is, the 4.7 has two different ones.

Hello,

The code P0339: Crankshaft position sensor intermittent.

This can get triggered due to a number of reasons. It could be due to wiring issue for the sensor, the 5V supply shorted to ground, crank sensor target wheel, also could be due to the PCM.

The best course of action would be to take a look at the possible components step by step and find the issue.

I have attached the troubleshooting steps for the code P0339 below. Follow those steps, as that can help you determine the cause.

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions.
Thank you.

Thanks Sean. The chart helped out 100% as I couldn't get my hands on one. I've resolved 90% of the issues. All tests voltage, resistance and continuity checked good. I ended up putting a shim or spacer between bellhousing and sensor and now cranks and fires right up. The only problem now is apply throttle and the Check engine light comes on with same code and back to limp mode we go. Also have replaced PCM and cannot get either PCM to pass a cam crank sync relearn. On live data it says all in sync with no issues until throttle applied. Anyone happen to know the thickness of the crank sensor spacers used in the early generations? Any other suggestions besides TNT!

New question on this ride. Is there supposed to be supply and signal voltage at the crank sensor with key off?
