Injector failure

My car will only start when putting some starting spray in the air filter. Also, if it's running, I need to press the accelerator the whole time, otherwise it dies. I checked the camshaft sensor. A friend of mine told me, that the car is only running on 2 cylinders(1. And 4. ). We went to a mechanic and he told me that 2 injectors are broken. Could that definitely cause these problems? How do injectors even break?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

It is unlikely that two would break at the same time, but I guess anything is possible. Usually, an injector will plug with dirt. Also, they have an electrical component to them that can also fail.

As far as causing a misfire, if an injector isn't working, yes it will cause it. Here are a few links you may find of interest:
