I nearly fried my engine today. The dash went dead and the fan stopped working. When I noticed it I shut off the engine, the radiator fluid was boiling. Fortunately it did not seize. I noticed that sometimes when I turned on the air conditioner I hear a pop from the fuse-box and the IGN 15A fuse blew. I noticed that there is a lot on that circuit, including the air conditioner. I cannot make it happen every time by turning on the air conditioner, but it can happen five times in three minutes. I am hoping that this is a known issue with a simple solution. I would love it to have one thing be cheap and simple :)

Not that anyone knows of a known issue, it is short someplace and it may happen when you hit a bump or the engine torques over. As well as the air conditioner egr circuit and tcc solenoid. It may be when the converter clutch applies or when the stop light switch is applied. If it were me I would disconnect tcc solenoid if you can and see if it stops it. Especially due to age and mileage on your vehicle. Also look at transmission connector as it can be a broken wire leading to that circuit. Also you might get it scanned for codes or cross A&B on aldl and get back to us if there is a code.

This effect can happen when the car is just standing in park and without stepping on the brake or using a signal, if that helps

Here is a link to an article that features written instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself, also I have included a link to our YouTube channel with a how to video on code scanning. Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one from Amazon.com. Once you have the codes please get back to us so that we can further assist you. Thank you for visiting 2CarPros.
