Missing relay and or control box after some work under dash. It clips to a bracket and mounts to heater box on left. It has two plugs one gray one light tan, they are wide look like a computer interface port plug shape. I have seen same year with one gray and found one with connectors like mine, but relay gone. Looked through forty junk cars only that one match no relay or control unit. Went to dealer with VIN number and they gave me a story about needing one before that did not match Vin number print out like mine. My print out is showing a one plug like 99% have, but the one junk match was identical car except color. Without them no power to right window or rear windows or air bag, that light is on. Also, probably one plug color and the other plug color probably this have no turn signals or hazard lights. Been to a mechanic a while and know 1996 is know for this lack of information at the dealer and can be a mix match car. If I can identification it I can find it. Stuff happens in a shop, but do not know how they lost it.

See picture of dash. It shows where a lot of relay stuff is. Your question is to confusing the way you wrote it.

Need a few more details. Which Subaru wagon model? How many pins in each connector or can you take a picture? "Heater box on left" Do you mean it is on the left side of the plenum in the drivers foot well area? Or?

Best guess is that they are option ports. Like cruise control or similar. More information would let them be tracked down.
