I hear a rattling sound when I accelerate - at times?

I have a 2009 VW Passat that I bought new and have always serviced at VW - oil changes, regular maintenance, etc. They replaced the water pump a year ago - under warranty. Last time I had my oil changed, everything came back okay but I needed brakes so I had them replaced. I asked about the transmission, because I started to hear the gurgling or rattling sound, but was assured that I have a sealed transmission and all was well. When I accelerate, I can hear a rattling or gurgling sound. It is becoming more and more frequent and I have no idea what it could be or what I can expect to pay to have it fixed.

You have to drive the vehicle with the Service Manager in the car, so that he / she can "hear" what you are hearing.

Once they hear what you are hearing, it "might" help them find the problem, or at minimum "verify" your concerns and document
the issue so that it is on file, should things get worse. But if no fault codes are stored in the Transmission Control Unit, it may be
difficult to find the problem.

Thanks Thomas. I will ask the service dept. Personnel on Monday when I bring the car to VW - I was just trying to get an idea of what it may be, before then. Again, thanks for the input! Pam

Good luck on monday!

There's just no way of knowing without hearing what you are hearing. Even then, unless it is a noise that someone has heard before, it can be
a long process until the root cause is found.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! :-)

I agree with Thomas, you need a qualified tech to drive and listen to this noise, a gurgling sound may be related to air in the cooling / heater system.
