I bought a refill from advanced auto and the tech helped me, the meter read low a little so we filled the low end up until it was at the correct level, and it felt colder in the car, so success. Until a couple miles later when it was blowing and the cold air left completely, but still blew hot air. At the same time the car would idle normal and about every five seconds it would give a little rev and then idle normal, and still warm air but it came in a little and then went away again, and all this after we clearly seen it was filled to the proper level. So now i am not sure what happened, but I feel it is has to be something simple I can fix myself. Please if you have the answer or can help. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Donald Howell

How did you determine the system was low on charge? Do you have a sight glass on the receiver / drier? What was the air temperature when you did this? Is the compressor cycling on? Do any of the hoses feel real hot or cold?

I appreciate the timely responce, I let the car set until just recently and went back out to turn it on and let it run for a while to see what happens, and it got cold as an icebox and idled perfectly. Maybe it just needed to cycle through, but the problem seems to be gone. If it comes back I will pay close attention to what happens to provide you better information. Thanks for your time and best regards, Donald Howell

I would also suggest that the system pressures are correct as well, the system runs on a precise weight of refrigerant, adding extra can case problems, and if it was low in the first place you probably will have a leak that need attention as well.
