Bearing repair problems.

My husband is trying to replace the wheel bearing on the front driver's side, on our 2001 Hyundai Elantra. (The car has 133,000 miles) He can't get the old one off the car. It appears to have seized on there. He took it to a machine shop and they couldn't remove it either. They tried heating it and beat on it. Said they'd never seen anything like it! He thinks they are going to have to cut the rotor off to get it out so they can get it into the press. We can't afford to take it to the shop. Any suggestions?

Good luck with that. I have the same car same problem. It took me and my buddy all day to break that bearing loose we used a air hammer and a slap hammer to get it loose
