1991 hyundai excel 111,000 miles

Sometimes while driving my excels' check engine light comes on and when in neutral, usually when preparing to shift down the engine cuts off. IF i turn the key back and turn it again it starts back up. any idea why this is happening?

Hi:
If the check engine light is coming on, the computer is picking up on a problem. What you need to do is take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most places won't charge for the service, and it will identify where the problem is coming from.
