I put oil in 2 weeks ago, and realized yesterday i'd forgot to replace oil filler cap. Was no signs of leaking or spillage. No burning smell, but my car is REALLY sluggish getting up to speed ( including engine revving at high rpm's to achieve this). Runs ok once up to speed. What has happened, and what can I do?

Hi Jeffery,

If the engine is revving wihout much acceleration, it indicates a slipping clutch. Get the clutch checked and replace if necessary.

Leaving the oil cap off would not affect the performance.

The high revv is from me having to revv up to 5000 rpms to get it going. Could problem be from air in engine, or could it be a pressure problem?

I have to do it on all gears. On hills, no matter the slope is the Worse. I barely get through intersection after green light, before it turns red. The oil on dipstick is dark now, black almost, but I cant see it JUST needing an oil change.

Get the clutch checked. It is slipping. You would be stranded soon.
