we have a strong vibration mostly in the steering wheel and seat when accelerating over 50mph. when we lift the foot off the gas it goes away. we've had the tires aligned and balanced twice. the vibration's still there and getting worse. could it be cv joints going bad? and if so, how do you know which ones?

Not CV joints, but ball joints and/or tie rod ends. Looks for damaged rubber boots. Also possibly out of round wheels.

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. AFTER CHECKING AND ROTATING THE TIRES, WE DISCOVERED THAT ITS DEFINITELY A BAD TIRE.
