My check engine light will not go off. The gas cap was checked and a few other things. The shop is telling me its the Purge Seolenoid is this the same as the Purge Control Valve?

Is this part availble anywhere besides the dealership?

Is it easy to replace?
Thanks

The purge solenoid is in the emissions system to keep gas fumes from venting into the atmosphere. If you have a code for it, this does not necessarily mean that it is bad. The problem could be as simple as a vacuum leak. Check all of your vacuum hoses under the hood for leaks. Listen careful for any hissing noises coming from them.

You can check your local auto parts stores such as AutoZone or O'Reilly Auto Parts to see if they have the part for your vehicle.
