How high are the RPM going? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

There are vacuum hoses that are on the engine and around it. Check to see if any are disconnected or in poor condition. Some people use carb cleaner and spray it on the vacuum hoses and around the intake. If there is a leak, the engine RPM's will increase. However, you must be careful when doing this because the carb cleaner is flammable.
