Electrical problem
2000 Hyundai Accent 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The battery died after nine years of service. I replaced it with a battery I bought from farm & Fleet. The salesperson said I needed at least 520 cc amps And that's what I got. The posts didn't match the cables, I flipped the battery around and started the car. It started right up! But ran ragged and died. I checked under the hood and the main fuse was blown. NOw what do I do?

Regardless of CCA, the battery produces 12 volts. It doesn't sound like the correct battery if the terminals are on the wrong side, but again, that shouldn't cause a problem unless the terminals are too short. Is it possible, when you crossed the terminals to make the battery work, something shorted? Are you certain the terminals were placed on the correct posts?
