How to fix a rough idle on a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLS with a 2.0L? (Like a miss)?

It was running fine so I changed my spark plugs (because I felt like they haven't been changed in a while) then it became a super rough idle with a check engine light on (first it flashed and now it is just staying on). So I changed my spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, and distributor cap. It still runs super rough with a check engine light on. Any ideas? I'm thinking ignition coil? Anyway to be sure?

If this engine was running good before you did this, then you have to realize that it was caused by something you did. I would start by pulling the plugs back out and inspecting them very closely for ay hairline type cracks. Before doing anything have the codes in the computer read and they should point you to twhich cylinder is having the problem.
