My wheel hub was hot, so my friend a mechanic replaced it with a new one yesterday. And today I drove it a 100 miles and if still feel hot, what would it be if not the wheel hub assembly?

Hi,

When you say it feels hot, do you mean you are touching it after the vehicle is driven and it is hot to the touch? If so, this is normal. These are attached to the rotor and the high amount of friction with the pad creates a lot of heat.

I would suggest using a temp gauge and seeing what this one is compared to the other side.

If they are about the same then it is probably normal. However, if this is hotter, then most likely your caliper is hanging up causing the brakes to drag and create heat.

If this is the case, more than likely you will need to replace it.

Yeah, both wheel hub gets hot to the touch.I know it's not normal because I compared it to my other car which is almost cold. Also both rotors have black purple-ish burns on them.

Okay. Just so we are on the same page, rotors get extremely hot when driving so they should be hot to the touch. I am not sure how your other vehicle's rotors are almost cold after driving it but that would be strange.

However, the purple-ish spots on them are called hot spots. That happens when the rotors get to hot. So if you have them on both front then you are having an larger brake issue or you are just a heavy brake user when driving? Do you drive more aggressively or are you very light on the brakes? Either way with time and mileage on this vehicle, I would take it into the dealer because it should still be under warranty. They will inspect the calipers and make sure you don't have a master cylinder issue. If so, they will fix it free of charge for you unless they determine it was caused by your driving.

Let me know what you think and we can go from there. Thanks
