1997 honda prelude fuel problem??

Hi, was just wondering about the 1997 Honda Prelude. We have one that was just bought within the last 6 months, everything was good, up until a month ago. No one around here seems to know what is wrong for sure. A couple mentioned the tranny. Not sure about that. It was doing great on gas mileage, then all the sudden the maintenance required light came on along with the check engine light. It has a really strong odor of fuel also. First thing is to have the car scanned for the trouble code or codes that are triggering the check engine light.Visually inspect the injectors for leaks or other obvious external leaks. Might be weak ignition or mixture control. Scan it first and go from there
