Not sure if this is the right category. I recently bought this privately, I notice that the gear shift does not lock when in park, I do not have to press brake to take out of park, can you direct me to the area to correct, is there a switch on the brake or how does this work

There's a shift lock solenoid inside the gear shifter, it is located inside the steering column. Do you hear a click when you press on the brake pedal?

The shift lock extension could be broken, remove the steering column covers and inspect the gear shifter components. Most likely you will need a new shifter assembly.
