98 crv that has a engine miss when dirving, but only when transmission is in 2nd (auto), like when it cuts back on a hill or when you want to pass someone.I have had timing belt replaced, compression checked, Distributer replaced, plugs, wires. Converter & 1 o2 sensor replaced. Also had gas filter replaced. It flashed the code for multiple cyc. Misfire, But light went off on its own & never came back on.I have also tried a computer out of a perfectly running crv to no avail. Crv idles fine & when it changes into high gear it is fine.

Hi hondanewf,

Misfiring are usually caused by ignition components and since you have replaced almost all of them, I would suggest checking the injectors and valve clearance.

Are the spark plugs of the correct specifications?
Did you test the Throttle Position Sensor?

Valves have been checked, I never checked gap on plugs, but they are almost new. Could tps cause this? Before it started to miss & still does, when you start the crv & begin to drive, probably 75-100 ft, it will hesitate, almost die, but pick it up again. It will not do this again until you shut it off

The hesitation seems to indicate a likely fault with the ignition system. Recheck the spark plug wires. Are all the parts replaced new and OEM?

The best way to go about would to get the freeze frame data to understand what could be out of specs at the moment of occurring.
