I have a 99 Honda Civic EX, 95K miles, automatic transmission, 2 FWD. At 94K miles, I replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and oil change with filter. The alternator also has been replaced on Sep 12, 2007. For the past week, my car has stalled when I come to a stop, cornering a turn at very slow speeds, and when the car is in park. To add to that, the AC is only cold when the car is moving. If the AC is on and the car is in Park, the AC does not blow out cold air. Current symptoms are: 1. When starting the car, it will idle around 2k RPM will flicker back and forth from 1K RPM to 2K RPM until I put the car into Drive, then it idles at a constant 1K RPM. 2. While driving, the car's RPM will sometimes flicker RPMs, changing from 3K and dropping to 2K and coming back up. 3. Car will stall at stop lights, slow turning speeds, when stopping completely. 4. AC is warm when in park, only cold when the vehicle is moving.
I think it needs a new Idle Control Valve or a new Air filter. The air filter installed now is one of the after-market Cold Air Intake and I don't know how reliable those are.
Please help. I saw other posted forums and I want to agree that it is the Idle Control Valve but I want to make sure before I spend $200 replacing it instead of having the mechanics rip me off (Still haven't found a decent mechanic). Thank You so Much in advance.
