Hi there,

This sounds like a clutch thrust bearing, as when you press in the clutch the bearing is loaded up and goes quiet, this a fairly common problem.

Hi, I have got exactly the same problem, I called a garage earlier on and they told me that instead of the clutch release bearings that it sounded like the Gearbox gearing needed changing. Not good, as this is a lot more expensive to fix. Well, I will get it check properly tomorrow and I will see and will let you know.

An input shaft bearing will be noise in gear and in neutral, less so with the clutch pressed, as then the clutch has disengaged and there is no drive through that bearing.
