My AC is not working. I have found that the compressor never comes on. The compressor clutch relay is good, but I found that it never receives a signal to pick up when required.

The LED inside the button on the dash lights up - and based on the schematic that I have, this seems to be a confirmation that the button is actually sending the signal to whatever controller handles the AC/Heat etc. As the LED is switched by this controller.

Will I need to change this controller - if so, how is this done? - OR - Are there other components down stream of the controller (but before the compressor relay) that could go bad?

Any idea on costs for required parts?

Thanks for your help.

Hi dt_muetzel,

If there is lack of gas, the compressor will not come on as the pressure switch circuit would be broken.

Test and see if the pressure switch is faulty.

Darryl, how do you know that your compressor clutch relay is good?

KHLow2008, how do I test and see if the pressure switch is faulty?

I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX-G 140000km and the air conditioning system is not working. I thought maybe it needed a recharge but even after the recharge it still doesn't work.

Thanks,
Gavin

Hi mr_gavin,

If there is not enough refrigerant, the pressure switch will not work.

Loop the pressure switch connector and see if the compressor works. If it works and plugging it back won't work, then either the switch is faulty or pressure is not enough.
