1995 Honda Civic Ignition & dash

My 1995 Honda turns over when the key is in the forward position, but as soon as key comes back to normal position, it dies. At same time, when I was driving it yesterday, the speedometer would drop then bounce back up to speed. Help me.

I have a 95 civic (204k) and it did a very similar thing yesterday. I did get it to stay cranked on the third try and the same acceleration thing- the SRS light came on when my acceleration dropped and then as it picked back up it went off.

I dropped it off at my mechanic this morning and talking to him he thinks its related to the alternator and voltage. Had the car since 135k and to my knowledge its the original alternator so hopefully it will be an easy fix.
