I have a 95 civic and I was looking inside and there is a black container on the passenger side right behind the brake fluid container that says pcv on it. Does anyone know the name of that container it seems to be some kind of filter maybe inside?

Thanks :-) but I also noticed the at the very bottom there was a hole, I couldn't pull it out to see it bit I also noticed a hose underneith so I popped it back into the bottom of the canister and I was wondering if there is a purpose for the container? And being that it was unplugged could it have caused damage anywhere to the car?

The fresh air tube is usually left at the lower part and is capped with a reed sort of rubber cap.

This EVAP canister is for emission control, to prevent raw gas from the fuel system to be discharged to the atmosphere.

It does not pose any problem if the lowe hose is unplugged. It is for preventing dust or other contaminants from getting into the canister to cause premature damage to the canister.
