My car makes this high pitched whistle when i'm in neutral w/ my foot completely off the clutch. if i put even the slightest pressure on the clutch, the noise goes away. i uploaded photos of where the noise is coming from. it's whatever is under that rubber thing (that the finger is pointing to). not sure what it is, but it's toward the front, bottom of the car, behind the radiator. the noise also goes away if i put enough pressure on the rubber itself. sounds like something needs to be tightened, but there's more rubber under the first layer and i don't know how to go about getting under it. what is it and/or what do i do??? thanks so much!!

Hi there,

This sound as if the clutch thrust bearing is dry, as when you start to apply clutch pressure the bearing is loaded up and the noise goes, the transmission must be removed to do this job, get a mechanic to confirm this diagnoses, as its best heard 1st hand.
