After letting my brother borrow my civic for two weeks I noticed when I got it back that after the engine warmed up (10min of normal driving), it would make a sound like is was very quickly fluttering. It would make a quick stalling sound like it was losing power due to overheating. After I pulled over I noticed the engine was very hot, the upper hose was very hot. I decided to have the thermostat changed and I also jumped my radiator fan to make sure it worked(it did) b/c it did not come on when I check under the hood. After new thermostat engine still overheating.I bled air from coolant(didnt work) I dont suspect head gasket as the problem b/c there is no white smoke or milky oil. Also. Oil seems to be burning, checked oil today and smoke poured from the check valve. What seems to be the problem?

Overheating!

1. Did the fan come On without direct power?

2. While engine is running did you check whether the coolant is circulating or squirling around?

3. When you checked the oil is it milky color?

Lets get it block and pressure tested to find more possibilites and report back with some results before we continue
