1993 Honda Civic Manual 168, 80 miles

My 93 civic with 168, 8xx miles wont shut off. When I got the car, I was told that it had an after-market alarm system that wasn't fully installed. The car at one point would make some funny buzzing type sound and the lights like the oil, check engine etc. Would flash in sync with the sound. Sometimes it would stay on and I had power to my radio, windows everything electrical and the key wasn't in the ignition. Now the car stays running. I can press the gas and you can hear the car rev. This all while the key is not in the ignition. I pulled the power from the battery, still stays on, I locked and closed the door, still nothing. I had to pull the power and over turn the key until it made grinding sound. Is there anything I can do? Is the car a total lost?

I would uninstall the alarm. Look under dash and see if you can see the alarm module. Just unplug it. Or bring it to a shop and have themj unhook it, usually the charge is minimal

Ok, thanks. I also asked a friend of mine and he told me it might also be the ignition switch, could that also be a factor?

Tim is right. Get the alarm disabled or fully installed. But for starters get it totally disabled. Then you will find out whether the switch is the underlying culprit.

Ok. Thank you. When I get the alarm disabled, I will post back if that was the problem. Thanks

I got the alarm taken out. It needed a new relay switch and ignition switch according to the mechanic. It finally turns off and is working properly. But I just noticed that when it rains, I get a puddle of water. It is only wet in that place. Any ideas?
