1990 Honda Civic Speedometer Stopped Working.

Yeah, my speedometer stopped working. It was working fine until the next day. I was driving and looked to see how fast I was going and it was still at 0 mph. I'm thinking it's my VSS on my tranny or the wire. I heard that you could hook up a drill to the VSS to see if it's really working by spinning the drill. What other ideas to check. My RPM and everyting else is working just fine too.

Hooking up a drillwould most probably overshoot the needle.

Using your hand to turn while someone watches the needle would be good. However you need to test the voltage.

At the three wire of VSS connector, central wire should have battery voltage. Other wire should have 0.5 volts and black wire should have continuity with body.

Save yourself the time. Get a replacement VSS to test would be easier and 90 % it is faulty.
