About a year ago, I started hearing a kind of whining noise from under the hood - suspected worn bearing on alternator or a pump. Then the battery, brake, and all door ajar lights came on. The lights got dimmer and dimmer, but I made it home. Pulled the alternator, parts store tested it and sold me a new one. Then about six months ago I replaced the worn out battery. Check engine light stays on (since battery replacement), code indicates EGR problem. I remember the dealer doing something to the EGR for free (Honda paid, defect not warranty) a few years ago. All else has been fine until recently. At highway speed, dash and head lights seemed to dim gradually then suddenly brighten. I had just put on a bra and thought there might be something making contact under the hood causing an intermittent short. Removed the bra and everything seemed fine. Drove several hundred miles (one long trip) with no more problems. Then today, the battery, brake, and all door ajar lights came on again, this time only at low rpm. When I accelerate above about 1500 rpm they all go out again. The original whining noise has never gone away. I suspect the original serpentine belt needs to be replaced. Could that be the problem? Is there anything else I should check?
