96 Accord blower fan problem

96 Honda Accord, 170,000 miles, with new radiator. The fans (both, I believe) come on after the car is turned off, and stay on for 3-5 minutes. The temp gauge rises to half way (which is hotter than normal) following trips longer than 5 minutes. Not losing radiator fluid. Any ideas?

Let me make a couple of comments. First, it isn't totally clear what you have just described. But, let me take a crack at it with this comment. When you install either a new radiator or a new thermostat in a vehicle, the temp gauge in the vehicle and the cooling fans will all run differently. The change is the radiator may seem trivial to you, but its engineering design can be just enough different to cause changes in the cooling. What is the temp in the air you are driving in?

Watch the car, let it and you establish a new mental comfort level with the temp gauge and the fans. It is awesome to see someone conscience enough to worry about the gauges and watch them.
