2001 Honda Accord will not come out of park

after start up sometimes the shifter will not move from park

This can be a result of one of two problems. The first is the switch for the brakelights and the other is the solenoid at the shifter that releases the stick to move. Normally when you are sitting quietly with the engine running and you step on the brake you will hear the solenoid click to allow movement of the shift lever. One of the two is failing.
