I have a 2001 Honda Accord Lx. The problem is that the car will stall or engine will cut off usually when ideling or coming to a stop. Does not happen all the time.
Very seldom does check engine come on. The mechanic both private and Honda were unable to produce a code on computer.
Service to date
Air Filter Changed
Alternator works fine
Air Intake Duct replaced(looded damaged)
Throttle body cleaned
Titanium Spark Plugs replaced
Dry Gas put into tank.

STILL DOES THE SAME THING. ANY IDEAS?

Hi drpmr1,

If no code were found, you need to have a diagnostic data reading to see if any of the sensors are operating out of spec.

After engine stalling, were you able to restart and if yes, was it easy?

What is the idling speed? When AC on, any changes?

Its my daughters car. She a/c did not matter as both happens.
Neither mechanic could find codes.
The honda guy put in new titanium spark plugs and said if that does not work then try EGR testing.
The car starts right back up,
when he drove it, I drove and the other mechanic drove it they all said it was ideling just fine and drove well.

My daughter did some snooping on the net boards and someone recommeneded replacing the fuel filter. Isn't it located in the gas tank and what would the cost be for that?
Thanks

Hi drpmr1

What does this sentence mean?

Air Intake Duct replaced(looded damaged)

The fuel filter is located under the vehicle outside the fuel tank and should not cost too much.

It is worth a try but from what you described, don't get your hopes too high.

I mean a disgnostic data reading check, not a scan for codes.

This process requires the checking of each component in more details as to the operating specifications during the running of the engine.

Some sensors don't record any error codes because they are still functioning, but are operating out of specs.

type. Looked damaged(my own mechanic told me and showed me and replaced it for nominal fee.

Btw my daughter called and said she NOW thinks it ALWAYS happens with the A/C on. Maybe a belt?

Hi drpmr1,

Ok, understood the sentence, I thought flooded, then there might be possibilities.

If the problem happens only with AC on, then most probably the ISC needs some cleaning.

The throttle body might have been cleaned but the ISC located underneath and maybe was not cleaned thoroughly.
