1999 Honda Accord Will not shift out of park

Hello I have a 99 honda accord. When you start the car up press the brake petal the car will not always remove from park but if you keep pressing the petal it will eventually go in gear. I have also noticed when it is doing this the brake lights will not lite up.

Hi hdm2002,

The brake switch is the controller for the interlock system, if it don't work, the gear solenoid will not release the gear shift.

Check for a defective switch, fuse or its wire connections.
