1999 Honda Accord sputtering

I have a honda accord and recently the check enging light has been coming on. So first thing I did was remove the battery terminal and reset the computer thinking it might be a fluke because this has happened to me before, so when I started the car it was off, then about 1000km later it came on again and I noticed when I was doing about 50mph in fifth gear occasinaly there was a sudden sptter in the motor and it never really affected much but it was slightly worrysome, it seems as if it is misfireing but only for a very short period of time(a few seconds). I just dont no whats going on. Any sudgestions?
