I am looking at a used 99Accord EX with the V6. The seller doesn't know if the belt was changed, dealer. Everything seems pretty tight with no leaks as I have looked at it. Should I have the belt changed soon after I get it, if I do?
thanks

If they have no record of it, I would bet that they or you could tell by looking in the peep hole to see if the belt was changed. If it wasn't, I would and maybe they will deal on the work with the car purchase.

Sometimes you can see in the pull off covers and look at the belt. With out the peep holes, it is a matter of pulling off the top timing belt cover(about 5 bolts) and look at the belt for the numbers. If they replaced it with a Honda belt then you might not get much help but often the replacement will be done with a belt from another source.
