Temperature gauge

I have a 98 accord lx as soon as I turn the car on even when its cold the gauge goes right to hot I have the repair manual it say's the wire from the sending unit to the dash is grounded somewere so I had a new wire ran and its still doing the same thing I even replaced the sending unit I also replace the cluster. Is there anything else it could be?

Check the ground circuit for the meter cluster.

I have the same exact problem, how do you check ground circuit for the meter cluster and where is it located?
