Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1998 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive 105000 miles

I had my 2 front axles replaced 9/2008. My commute is only a couple of miles daily. I don't drive under any harsh conditions. I started to hear that front end noise of a bad axle again. When I took my car to the mechanics I was told one of my axles needed replacing. Is it normal for axles to wear out this frequently? What is a typical life expectancy of front axles. Thanks to anyone who can give me an idea. I hope my mechanic is not trying to rip me off.

Thank You.

Hi there,

Drive shafts should last quite a long time, but if the boot is damaged and this is not picked up quickly, they can start to knock, but if this is not the case you may have been sold poor quality rebuilt units that were no up to the job.
