Engine Performance problem
1998 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic 156000 miles

I was driving today on the road when I felt my car go weak. I couldnt accelerate anymore and could hardly brake. My steering didnt get hard tho. I had some friends look at it and it looks like im not getting any sparks in my spark plugs. It may be my distributer or fuel pump or alternater or timing belt. I dont know. Whats your theory?

Hi linda87,

If there is no sparks at the plugs, then you need to check if the timing belt is snapped or has lost some teeth.

Remove the oil filler cap and ask someone to crank the engine, if you see movement on the rockers inside the oil filler neck, it most probably isn't the timing belt.

Check the distributor for coil or igniter fault.
