I bought this car used about 10k miles ago. It ran perfectly until about 103k miles. The check engine light illuminates occasionally and the vehicle regardless of gear or speed begins to stall [sputter] at approximately 2800-3000 rpms. At first I thought it was the fuel system. I checked the spark plugs and plug wires to check for any obvious issues. I noticed a small amount of engine oil surrounding the two plugs closest to the drivers side. I cleaned the oil out and ensured the plugs were tight. The problem went away and the car drove perfectly for about 1k miles. The problem came back and the same solution worked again. I am beginning to think this is a valve cover gasket issue. Any advice would be great! Thanks.

Hi bnutts,

When the CEL shoes, you need a diagnostic scan to find out what is wrong.

The oil leaking into the plug shafts are due to either the plug seals under the valve cover gasket or the O ring seal under the rocker shaft carrier.
