We replaced the blower fan and the day after,
the climate control buttons stopped functioning,
except one. Two days later the speedometer
started bouncing around, then stopped.
Also the indicators on our console are supposed
to glow red at night when our lights are on, but
the red light of the indicators quit.
several days later the speedometer came to life, then quit later that day.

The timing of all these weird symptoms coincide with
the replacement of the blower fan. Id love
to think that something was damaged or forgotten
but I thought Id check with the pro's first. Maybe
its just a coincidence?

Hi kitsmail,

Replacing the blower motor should have nothing to do with the problems described as the blower motor is a simple job and does not require any major removal or disconnecting of wireharnesses.

The speedometer working erraticvally is most probably due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor located on the transaxle just below the thermostat housing.

The console lights not illuminating should be due to a blown bulb under the console.

The buttons still light up on the climate control when you push them, but the buttons don't stay depressed.
They pop back up. The One button on the far right that controls air / heat blowing on the windshield will only stay depressed and stays lit. So I dont think its a bulb as they all light up.

The speedometer worked perfect until we finished replacing the blower. Then it stopped working, then started, then stopped, etc. The timing is very curious.
It was trouble free until just after we finished.

The indicator light on the "needles" which light up when the headlights are on also stopped after the
blower was replaced. Again, the timing is very very
curious. The back on the Tach, Speedometer
and fuel gauge still lights up (green) but the red
light on the indicator "needles" do not light up.
Again, immediately after we finished the blower install.

I agree, that they are different components but
I find it very odd that they didn't work after we finished. What did we inadvertently do to cause
these seemingly unrelated problems?

When replacing the blower motor, was any ground connectionss removed? Did you check if it is securely reinstalled?

There is a possibility one of the ground connections is bad and it could be that it was not very secure and movements happens to cause it to get worse resulting in the various problem.

Only the ground connections would be common for all the circuits.
