Engine Cooling problem
1994 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My girlfriend has 94 Honda Accord with two fans. The one on the passenger side seems to be broken. I can pull on the hub back and forth. She had mentioned lots of rattling before and than it stopped. Now it overheats real quick when she turns on the AC. Question: The fan on the passenger side is specifically the cooling fan for the AC condensor and appears to be broken? How about the fan on the drive side? What is its job? I was looking at purchasing a fan on ebay but I want to be sure its the right one. She has limited funds and yes Im trying to help my girl :)

Thanks

John

Does the car overheat when she drives it or just while it sits there and idles?
How long does it take for it to get to overheating temperature?
Does the fan come on when it starts to overheating? If yes, than check the shroud to see its cracked. If its not cracked check coolant level and condition.
If That is all good, you should check you thermostat. You can do that by finding the pressure hose from the radiator and squeezing it and seeing if it builds up pressure as the temperature of your car heats up, iif it stays cold and does not build pressure you would want to replace your thermostat.
If this is all ok still, the next step would to check and see if there are bubbles in your cooling system which would indicate a bad head gasket or cracked head.
Check with the first couple first and then let me know what you find out and I can better educate you on the next step
