Hello, so my check engine light wouldnt turn off so I took it to a friend of mine that has a scanner. His scanner showed a Code #6 and said shift position switch. And I am wondering where is that located exactly? And it is also turning off when I do a sudden stop or reverse, would that be because of the shift position switch? Need help please!

Thank you

Yes it could cause that, it is located under the right side of the floor console, on the base of the gearshift

For used parts search sites such as craigslist. Com and ebay. Com. Also call around your local salvage yards. To purchase new one contact local dealer. They can give you price estimate for the part as well.

If either of the caps are cracked then yes it could leak there. Are there any visible signs of leaking coolant? Puddles under ground, wet components. Etc?

No, there is no signs of leaking coolant. Everytime I turn off the car the fan stays on for a while. Thats normal though right? And I just replaced the radiator cap but the overflow bottle is cracked and almost peeling off from the top and even after I replaced the radiator cap I still noticed that the car is wasting too much water.

Ok thank you, and about the shift position switch I went to the salvage yard and got the shift postion switch or so I think. If you know a way I can get a picture of it can u send me the link? Id appreciate it. Because I looked on the internet but couldnt find 1. But for safekeeping I took both switches and everything from it and replaced it already and I took off the battery to reset it and everything and the check engine sign is still lit. Would you have any other idea what it could be?

Thank You
